West Avon Preserve is Open to Class 1 E-bikes

Community News

Thanks to our advocacy, the Town of Avon and Eagle Valley Land Trust, Class 1 e-bikes are now legal on trails in the West Avon Preserve. This is an exciting step for accessibility and inclusion, opening the trails to more riders.

The Town of Avon and the Eagle Valley Land Trust recently updated their management plan of the West Avon Preserve.  It has been 10 years since this trail system opened, hard to believe!  During this process it was decided to allow Class 1 e-bikes.  Also, we are working towards (finally) building the Wild West Ridge to Wyse Way Connector (P8 on the map) in 2026.  You can view the full plan update here.

E-bikes open new opportunities for many people to explore and enjoy our trails . With that power comes responsibility. Practicing good e-bike etiquette—yielding to others, riding in control, and respecting trail rules—keeps our shared spaces safe, sustainable, and enjoyable for everyone.

  • Don’t pass someone on an analog bike without proper communication - be patient and courteous and pass when safe.
  • Control your speed and always yield appropriately.
  • Know where class 1 e-bikes are legal, stay on designated trails and share the space with kindness.

Class 1 e-bikes make sense in this trail system due to it’s general flow of traffic, it’s close to town, and because it is contained.  Meaning that the only Forest Service trail or road it connects to is June Creek road which is open to motorized use. Let’s ride responsibly and keep the trails safe and fun for everyone.
