
Valley View Welcomes Aaron Alizadeh, MD to the Calaway-Young Cancer Center at Valley View
The Calaway-Young Cancer Center at Valley View is pleased to welcome Aaron Alizadeh, MD, a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist, to the team. As the leading cancer treatment facility in the Rockies, the Calaway-Young Cancer Center is home to a nationally renowned team of providers offering the most advanced technologies and cancer treatment options in the country.
Dr. Alizadeh received his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit and completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology-oncology at Emory University in Atlanta.
“We are honored to welcome Dr. Alizadeh to our team at the Calaway-Young Cancer Center at Valley View,” said Joanie VanDerSchaegen, chief of physician operations of Valley View. “His nationally recognized expertise as a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist combined with his passion for patient-centered care, will further enhance our ability to provide exceptional cancer treatment to our community.”
Prior to joining Valley View, Dr. Alizadeh was a provider at Georgia Cancer Specialists, a subsidiary of Northside Hospital Cancer Institute in Atlanta, where he held leadership roles in the treatment of melanoma. While there, he also served as a clinical investigator and participated in numerous peer-reviewed clinical research studies. Dr. Alizadeh began his career in hematology-oncology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Dr. Alizadeh is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology. His publications include reports on melanoma clinical trials and genetic cancer syndromes. He advocates for his patients in locating cutting-edge trials and is dedicated to researching the latest in cancer treatments.
Originally from Michigan, Dr. Alizadeh moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2025 with his wife, Diana, an anesthesiologist, and three children. Outside of work, Dr. Alizadeh enjoys hiking, skiing, reading and walking the family’s husky, Bear.
