Valley View, an independent, not-for-profit health system based in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, is pleased to announce it has once again been named among the 2025 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. In addition, Valley View has also been recognized as a Top 20 Rural and Community Hospital by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), based on the evaluation by Chartis.  

Chartis’ annual Top 100 award program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®. This INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is utilized nationwide by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance. 

The NRHA has named the 20 highest-ranked prospective payment system hospitals in the country based on an evaluation by the Chartis Center for Rural Health. The determining factors for the top 20 rural and community hospitals are based on eight indices: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and finance.

Valley View also received the prestigious honor of Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health in 2021. Additionally, Chartis recognized Valley View in the 2024 Performance Leadership Awards for top-quartile performance among rural hospitals in the outcomes category.
