Valley View is Among the First in Colorado to Offer Aidoc, a Groundbreaking AI Platform for Imaging
Valley View is now partnering with Canopy Partners, a national leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and IT services for radiology, to provide Aidoc, a pioneer in clinical AI technologies. Aidoc enables Valley View radiologists to identify suspected findings earlier which improves outcomes for patients and reduces hospital length of stay.
The Canopy Partners Radiology AI Aidoc program is the largest, most comprehensive deployment of FDA-approved algorithms in the country. Valley View radiologists use Aidoc to analyze images for abnormalities that may be missed by the naked eye including small or hard-to-see pulmonary embolisms, brain bleeds, rib fractures and more.
For example, at Valley View and nationwide, blood clots are a growing health issue. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that an estimated 900,000 Americans are affected by a blood clot every year, resulting in nearly 100,000 deaths. They can affect anyone at any age, but certain risk factors, such as surgery, hospitalization, pregnancy, cancer, family history and more, can increase a person’s risk. Since a blood clot does not go away on its own, it’s critical to catch and treat them as soon as possible.
If a person comes to Valley View’s Emergency Department with symptoms of a blood clot, Valley View radiologists can perform the appropriate imaging scans using Aidoc to identify potential medical issues earlier, leading to faster treatment and better outcomes for the patient. As one of the first hospitals in Colorado and the first in the Roaring Fork Valley to offer Aidoc, Valley View is leading technology.
Valley View radiologists use nine Aidoc algorithms which have all been FDA-cleared and further vetted by Radiology Partners, one of the largest radiology groups in the nation. These algorithms include: Pulmonary Embolism, Incidental Pulmonary Embolism, Brain Aneurysm, C-Spine Fracture, Vessel Occlusion (Lvo And Mevo), M1 Large Vessel Occlusion, Rib Fracture, Intra-Abdominal Free Gas and Intracranial Hemorrhage.
“Launching Aidoc signifies our dedication to innovative solutions that improve the experience for our patients and caregivers alike, ensuring exceptional care for the patients and families we serve,” said Will Weathers, MD, radiologist and medical director of radiology at Valley View. “With Aidoc’s proven AI and technology capabilities, we are able to deliver better outcomes and save lives.”
“We’re honored to have been selected as the partner of choice for such an esteemed system with a long legacy serving the community,” said Worth Saunders, CEO of Canopy Partners. “Through the backing and resources of RP, Canopy is able to provide the latest in technology efficiencies, benefitting physicians and ultimately patient care.”
