Expanding Access to Affordable Care in Gypsum, CO

Expanding Access to Affordable Care in Gypsum, CO

Community News

For the second time this year, Mountain Family Health Centers (MFHC) will be expanding access to affordable care in the Eagle River Valley.   In January 2023, Mountain Family opened a new Community Health Center located in Avon, Colorado.  Shortly after opening the Avon clinic, Mountain Family began construction on another new Community Health Center located in Gypsum, Colorado.  Construction on the new MFHC Gypsum clinic is slated to be completed by mid-summer 2023 and the clinic will open to patients in August this year.

Similar to other Mountain Family sites, the new Gypsum clinic will provide affordable medical, dental, behavioral, and pharmacy services to the community, without regard to the patient’s ability to pay for services.  To make an appointment at Mountain Family, call 970-945-2840 or visit us online at www.mountainfamily.org.  Se habla Española.

The MFHC Gypsum clinic will be located due east of the Eagle airport at 410 McGregor Drive in the space previously occupied by Vail Health’s urgent care facility.  Both the MFHC Gypsum and Avon clinics were developed and built in partnership with Vail Health, Eagle County, the Colorado Health Foundation, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, the U.S. Bureau of Primary Health Care, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper, and many community partners.

“We’re extraordinarily grateful to our local, state, and federal partners for their support of two Mountain Family integrated health center expansions in the past year,” said MFHC CEO Ross Brooks.

According to Brooks, “Eagle County is a beautiful part of Colorado, with skiing, fishing, hiking, rafting, and outdoors adventures year-round.  However, there’s a price to this paradise, as affordable healthcare is out of reach for thousands of families in Western Colorado.  Today, more than 7,500 low-income individuals in Eagle County do not have access to affordable care through Mountain Family Health Centers.

Brooks added: “MFHC’s two new clinics will serve both the western and eastern parts of Eagle County with facilities in Avon and Gypsum, which are located near public transportation just off the I-70 corridor.  The clinics will jointly care for more than 6,600 Eagle County residents, providing access to affordable care for all.”
