After 21 years of serving in the Community Health Center movement, the past 11 at Mountain Family Health Centers, MFHC CEO Ross Brooks informed the Board of Directors and staff of his intent to resign from the CEO position as of August 31, 2023.

The MFHC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for leading the Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles, and Strategic Plan for Mountain Family Health Centers. With staff’s support, the MFHC’s Board of Directors is conducting a national CEO search with Gallagher Executive Search and Leadership Advisors, to lead the quest for finding the right combination of experience, skills, values, education, and personality to lead Mountain Family Health Centers.

According to MFHC Board of Directors Chair Sydney Schalit, “We’re grateful to Ross for his leadership of Mountain Family for more than a decade, growing the organization into the affordable, equitable, and integrated medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare home for 24,000 people across Garfield, Eagle and Pitkin Counties. While the Board is sad to see him depart, he is leaving the organization in great shape and the incoming CEO will be poised for success. We will begin the CEO search process in April and we look forward to recruiting a dynamic, community-centered CEO to lead the organization forward in the future.”

We are concluding Phase I of the process, which is focused on our search firm understanding Mountain Family Health Centers’ care delivery model, communities served, organizational structure, strategic plan, finances, culture, and reputation. Starting in early June, Phase II will be focused on the search itself, in which Gallagher will work on identifying and vetting the best candidates for the role based on the attributes identified in Phase I and facilitating the MFHC search committee’s decision-making processes. This process is expected to last throughout June and July with a CEO selection made by early August.
