Position Summary: The Grants and Giving Specialist will work closely with the CEO to manage and grow the organization’s annual $1.8K grant portfolio of government, foundation, community, and corporate grants. The Grants and Giving Specialist will manage the organization’s donor database system (Blackbaud RXT). 36-hour work week with occasional weekend and evening hours likely.


Grants Responsibilities (70% of time) 

Pursue and secure contracts, grants, cooperative agreements to fund the development and implementation of Bright Future Foundation programs

  • Author annual government contract proposals and perform necessary reporting
  • Research the grant-making programs of foundations and corporations
  • Coordinate and submit grant quarterly and year-end programmatic reports in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer and Program Director(s)
  • Develop and maintain relationships with grant funders, and encourage and conduct site visits
  • Maintain calendar and database of all grants, progress reports, and correspondence with funders


Giving Responsibilities (20% of time) 

-Oversee the administration and maintenance of the donor database (Blackbaud RXT) including acquiring and inputting donor gifts and ensuring timely recognition

-Generate giving reports from the donor database (Blackbaud RXT)

-Work with the CEO to develop an annual year-end giving plan with revenue goals

-Initiate a donor recognition plan including developing stewardship and retention strategies

-Represent the organization at philanthropic convenings

 

Special Events Responsibilities (10% of time)

 

 -As part of the Bright Future Foundation’s special event’s team, organize, manage, and implement agency-sponsored fundraising projects

      -Act as liaison with community-sponsored events held on Bright Future Foundation’s behalf

      -Keep complete and accurate records of all event participants and donations


QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Passion for serving vulnerable populations
  • Five years’ experience in not-for-profit grant writing, fund development, or equivalent education and experience
  • Goal-oriented individual with strong analytical thinking and work accuracy
  • Strong, proven ability to: mediate differences of philosophy and opinion; maintain a calm, efficient, and good-humored approach to work while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, highly productive work environment; work independently and as a team member; think critically and with foresight; carry out assignments with limited direction; adapt to change; and be nimble and flexible
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Must have own vehicle with insurance (Mileage reimbursement available)

  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations with a judgment-free attitude

                                                                                                                     


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


-Experience with donor database management, in particular Blackbaud RXT

-Proficient in Canva or comparable desktop publishing software

-Familiarity with the fund development landscape of Eagle County, Colorado

-Familiarity with Colorado victim service funders
