Employment Opportunity

TreeTop Child Advocacy Center provides child-focused advocacy, healing support, and coordinated multidisciplinary response services for children and families impacted by abuse across Colorado’s 5th Judicial District. The Executive Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, community partnership development, and organizational stewardship in alignment with National Accreditation Standards, State and Federal Requirements, and best practices.

The Executive Director serves as the primary leader, strategist, spokesperson, and relationship-builder for the organization while fostering a trauma-informed, child-centered culture that supports children, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners.

This is a full-time exempt position based in Breckenridge, Colorado.

 

Mission

TreeTop Child Advocacy Center exists to meet the needs of children and investigations by providing a safe, child-focused environment that supports healing, coordinated response, and access to trauma-informed services and resources for children and families impacted by abuse.

 

Position Summary

The Executive Director provides overall strategic leadership, organizational management, and operational oversight for TreeTop Child Advocacy Center. This position works collaboratively with the Board of Directors, multidisciplinary team (MDT) partners, staff, donors, and community stakeholders to ensure high-quality services, organizational sustainability, and continued growth.

The Executive Director is responsible for advancing TreeTop’s strategic priorities, including accreditation, financial sustainability, community awareness, partnership development, workforce support, and equitable access to services.

 

Core Areas of Responsibility

 1. Organizational Leadership & Strategic Direction

Strategic Leadership

• Lead the overall strategic direction of TreeTop in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

• Partner with the Board of Directors to develop, implement, and evaluate strategic plans and organizational goals.

• Foster a collaborative, trauma-informed organizational culture focused on excellence, equity, accountability, and innovation.

• Ensure compliance with National Accreditation Standards, State/Federal Requirements, and accreditation requirements.

Organizational Operations

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Child Advocacy Center.

• Develop and maintain operational systems, policies, procedures, and organizational infrastructure.

• Ensure appropriate risk management, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

• Provide leadership for program growth, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

Financial Management

• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term sustainability efforts.

• Develop annual operating budgets and oversee financial reporting and accountability.

• Ensure sound fiscal management, internal controls, and stewardship of organizational resources.

• Work with the Board to maintain financial stability and operating reserves.

• Fundraising & Development

• Lead organizational fundraising strategy in partnership with staff and the Board of Directors.

• Cultivate relationships with donors, grant funders, corporate sponsors, and community partners.

• Support grant development, fundraising campaigns, and special events.

• Advance diversified revenue strategies that support long-term sustainability.

 

2. Governing Entity & Multidisciplinary Relations

Board of Directors

• Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors.

• Support board governance, strategic planning, policy development, and committee work.

• Provide regular reports, recommendations, and organizational updates.

• Foster effective communication and collaborative leadership between staff and board members.

Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) & Community Partnerships

• Build and strengthen collaborative relationships with law enforcement, child welfare, medical providers, prosecutors, schools, mental health providers, and other partner agencies.

• Participate in MDT coordination and promote best practices and trauma-informed services in child abuse response and investigations.

• Facilitate communication and partnership development across the 5th Judicial District.

• Support MDT training In accordance with national accreditation standards, collaboration, and case coordination efforts.

Child Advocacy Center Leadership

• Represent TreeTop within statewide and national Child Advocacy Center networks.

• Maintain awareness of emerging best practices, policy developments, and accreditation standards.

• Advocate and procure child-centered, trauma-informed systems and services.

• Provide clinical supervision to family victim advocates and staff.

 

3. Community Relations & Public Engagement

• Serve as the primary public representative and spokesperson for TreeTop.

• Increase community awareness and visibility through presentations, media engagement, outreach, and public education.

• Strengthen referral pipelines and strategic community partnerships.

• Promote TreeTop’s mission through donor engagement, storytelling, advocacy, and relationship-building.

• Represent the organization professionally and effectively in community, government, and nonprofit settings.

Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, supervision, mentorship, and support to staff and contractors.

• Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and organizational culture.

• Promote staff wellness, trauma-informed supervision, and workforce sustainability.

• Foster an inclusive and equitable work environment.

Family Advocacy & Victim Support

• The Executive Director is expected to maintain a strong understanding of victim advocacy and trauma-informed care while supporting service delivery systems that assist children and families throughout the investigative and healing process.

• Responsibilities may include: • Supporting crisis response and family engagement efforts.

• Assisting families with referrals, resources, and victim compensation information.

• Participating in case coordination and follow-up communication when appropriate.

• Supporting access to culturally responsive and bilingual services.

• Maintaining awareness of child abuse dynamics, victim advocacy practices, and trauma-informed response models

 

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, nonprofit management, criminal justice, public administration, human services, or related field required.

• Master’s degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications Include:

• Senior nonprofit leadership or executive management experience.

• Experience in fundraising, donor development, and grant management.

• Strong fiscal management and budgeting experience.

• Experience working within child advocacy, victim services, social services, child welfare, criminal justice, or related systems.

• Demonstrated success in partnership development and community engagement.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary collaboration efforts.

• Familiarity with National Accreditation Standards & State and Federal Requirements.

• Experience in rural or mountain community service environments beneficial

• Experience working in a mental health field or other related education

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required.

• Ability to travel throughout the 5th Judicial District and surrounding areas.

• Successful completion of criminal background checks required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while conducting interviews and completing documentation.

• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication.

• Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting materials.

• Ability to travel both in and out of the for interviews, meetings, training, and outreach events.
