Organization Overview:
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships for snowsports instruction to individuals with disabilities, as well as funding opportunities for instructors to obtain certifications. Our mission is to promote inclusivity and empower individuals with disabilities to experience the joy of winter while also supporting the growth and development of skilled instructors within the adaptive community.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Executive Director to lead our organization in achieving its mission. This is a half-time employee position, providing an excellent opportunity for someone with a flexible schedule who is committed to making a positive impact. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our nonprofit, with a strong focus on fundraising efforts to support our scholarship programs.
Responsibilities:
- Fundraising: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other potential donors. This includes organizing events, grant writing, donor cultivation, and stewardship activities.
- Program Management: Oversee the scholarship programs, ensuring efficient and effective operations. Coordinate the application process, selection committees, and disbursement of funds to recipients. Maintain regular communication with scholarship recipients and instructors.
- Financial Management: Manage the organization's budget, monitor financial performance, and ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements. Work closely with the Board of Directors in budget development and financial decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, sponsors, volunteers, ski resorts, ski schools, and disability organizations. Represent the organization at relevant community events, conferences, and meetings.
- Board Collaboration: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop strategic plans, set goals, and establish policies and procedures. Provide regular updates on organizational progress and seek their guidance and support.
- Marketing and Public Relations: Develop and implement marketing strategies to raise awareness of the organization's mission, programs, and impact. Enhance the organization's online presence through social media, website management, and other communication channels.
- Organizational Development: Identify opportunities for organizational growth and improvement. Explore partnerships and collaborations that align with our mission and can enhance our impact. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist with various aspects of the organization's activities, including fundraising events and program implementation.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in nonprofit leadership, preferably in a fundraising or executive director role.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing fundraising strategies, including grant writing and donor cultivation.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the snowsports industry and experience working with disabled individuals is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with financial management and budgeting processes in a nonprofit setting.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
