Eagle River Coalition (ERC) seeks a Director of Watershed Restoration to develop and implement projects outlined in the Eagle River Community Water Plan (ERCWP) and Water Plan Grant from Colorado Water Conservation Board. Additionally, this position will oversee our Watershed Restoration Manager and a variety of projects and volunteer events that are currently in progress. The Director of Watershed Restoration reports directly to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish and lead collaborative groups for identified efforts, including flow management, riparian restoration and in-stream habitat projects and develop basic restoration plans

In tandem with Executive Director, develop and implement fundraising plans for each project, including applications for state and federal grants

Develop concept plans for restoration plans and projects

Foster relationships with experts and technical leads at local, state and federal agencies

Serve as organization project manager and liaison for restoration at Camp Hale

Oversee ERC’s Watershed Restoration Manager and associated projects

Connect community to and ensure understanding of the Eagle River Community Water Plan

Work with the Community Engagement Manager to develop and implement a Water Education Action Plan for the Eagle River Watershed

Create and manage the ERCWP Advisory Group, working to keep momentum behind the Water Plan and advise the granting process for a newly formed endowment fund

Serve as organization lead for the Deep Creek Wild & Scenic River Designation Process

Participate in (and coordinate, as necessary) ERC meetings, events and functions

Attend trainings to further develop relevant knowledge and skills

Represent ERC on community groups, boards and committees related to projects, such as the Colorado Basin Roundtable

Provide support as needed to the Executive Director, Board of Directors and staff/consultants

Share in the responsibility of maintaining the office/workplace

Take on other duties as assigned

Specific Skills Desired:  

Degree in natural resources or related field, plus five years of relevant professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Extensive project management experience.

Strong public speaking experience (evidenced by presentations at conferences, events and radio/TV or other evidence of mastery).

Strong track record of fostering collaborative relationships and facilitating conversations among diverse communities to reach consensus.

Persuasive and technical writing experience (grant writing, newspaper articles or related) with an attention to detail.

Experience planning and facilitating meetings, evidenced through chairing of a committee, stakeholder group, or similar.

Experience developing and managing project budgets.

Ability to develop necessary frameworks and processes for projects and programs.

Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Canva, the Google Suite and ERSI GIS software.

Fundraising and restoration design experience, a plus.

A willingness to learn and expand skills as necessary.

Compensation & Benefits: Full-time, exempt salaried position. Position salary range is $75,000-85,000. Other Details: Typical business hours with some evening/weekend events. Flexibility available. Work requires some physical exertion such as walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying, or similar activities, sometimes in inclement weather.
