Position Summary: 

Under the direction of Bright Future Foundation’s Clinical Supervisor, the Bilingual Mental Health Therapist position will support the mission of the organization by providing trauma-focused therapy services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. The Bilingual Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing clinical therapy services for a diverse caseload of survivors including adults, adolescents, and families experiencing behavioral health challenges. Working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, the Bilingual Mental Health Therapist will participate in agency-wide team meetings to ensure collaboration and effective case management for the survivors they work with. Additionally, the Bilingual Mental Health Therapist will lead the court mandated Collaborative Parenting Workshop on a monthly basis. The Mental Health Therapist will provide on-call coverage for the 24/7 crisis line and Sexual Assault Nurse and Forensic Nurse Exams Exam (SANE/FNE) response program, on a rotating basis.

Bilingual Mental Health Therapist Responsibilities

(100% of time/ 36 hours per week)

Provide culturally sensitive, trauma-focused therapy services to clients (adult, adolescents, and families)

Develop, monitor, and manage empirically supported treatment plans for clinical clients

Participate in weekly multi-disciplinary rounds

Document assessments and progress notes in electronic database in a timely and professional manner

Advocate a holistic view of healing, focusing on psychological, economic, legal, physical/medical, and educational ramifications of abuse 

Provide coverage for the crisis line and SANE/FNE response programs

Lead monthly parenting workshops

Engage in prevention and outreach efforts

Actively promote Bright Future Foundation’s mission/vision by participating in awareness-building opportunities (trainings, forums, panel discussions, etc.)

Work with community agencies to determine appropriate collaboration, referrals, and treatment goals

Maintain compliance to HIPAA policy; develop records and maintain confidentiality relating to client identity and services

Required Qualifications:


Advanced Degree in Social Work, Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or related field (MSW, MA, MS, Psy.D., Ph.D.)

Licensed or have the ability to become either independently, or provisionally, licensed in the state of CO (LSW; LCSW; LPCC; LPC; PSYC; LP). Supervision toward licensure may be available to the right candidate

Ability to provide bilingual clinical services in both Spanish and English

At least 2 years of clinical experience either on the job or through internship training

Knowledge of counseling theories and practices

Knowledge of treatment principles, modalities and techniques

Knowledge of DSM-IV diagnoses and differential diagnoses

Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse environment of clients, staff, and community

Ability to engage in cultural humility

Demonstrates an understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity in access to mental healthcare

Knowledge and adherence to APA/ACA/NASW ethical and professional guidelines

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently, as well as in a team

Ability to respond quickly and effectively in crisis situations, with a judgment free attitude

Ability to shift between clinical and non-clinical duties to meet organizational needs

Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse environment of clients, staff, and community

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)

Ability to comfortably drive or commute to neighborhoods throughout the community and occasionally out of area travel. Must have own vehicle with insurance. (Mileage reimbursement available)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with survivor-centered advocacy

Familiarity with state, federal and/or tribal laws, policies, and regulations impacting victims of crime
