
Associate, part-time at EVLD
The Library Associate provides customer service to patrons including processing new library cards, check-in & check-out of materials, collection of money for fees and other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform library tasks during assigned customer service desk rotations
- Maintain library shelf materials and keep public areas tidy
- Assist patrons with standard library services
- Assist patrons with library computer navigation, troubleshooting library device hardware issues, and introducing digital resources
- Support staff with opening and closing procedures for both the library branch and outreach vehicles
- Support staff with back of house library processes including courier, item maintenance, shelf inventory and deselection
- Complete monthly check-in meeting with supervisor
Competency: Adept with computer software navigation, customer service, and attention to detail. Ability to understand District policies and Colorado library laws.
Required education and experience: High school diploma or equivalent. One year of customer service work experience.
Supervisory responsibilities: NONE
Work Environment: Inside support role. Regular interaction with other staff and the public. Operates phones, computers and office equipment.
Hours of Work: Hourly, Non-exempt Part-Time [24 hours/week]
The schedule requires one evening shift per week and one weekend shift per month.

Physical demands: Light physical effort in carrying and shelving books. Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching.
Non-essential functions:
- Support staff in outreach service procedures and providing standard library services during outreach events, including bookmobile operations
- Assist in preparation of displays and promotional materials
- Assist in serial cataloging, claims and withdrawal procedures including magazine and newspaper materials
- Transport mail to and from the post office and sort into appropriate inboxes
- Actively encourage patron hold habits and support hold management processes
- Prepare craft materials for programming as assigned
