Avon Turkey Trot

Description

Kick off Thanksgiving Day the Avon way at the annual Avon Turkey Trot! Gather your family and friends for a festive morning of fresh mountain air, community spirit and holiday fun at Harry A. Nottingham Park. Whether you walk, jog or trot the 3K, you'll enjoy a scenic course around Nottingham Lake and the Eagle River Trail followed by light refreshments. Costumes are highly encouraged, so break out your most creative holiday attire and join the fun. 

Keep your eyes peeled for three Avon Turkey Oven Mitts hidden along the course. Find one and bring it across the finish line for a chance to win a prize! 

Trot for a great cause while you're at it. A portion of event proceeds benefits YouthPower365, and participants who would like to make an additional contribution can support the organization directly through the YouthPower365 donation page. Grab your filled reusable water bottle, bring your festive spirit, and join us for a Thanksgiving tradition that's sure to work up an appetite. We can't wait to see you at the starting line!

Event Details:

• This fun event will start and finish on Lake Street in front of the Avon Recreation Center (90 Lake Street Avon, CO 81620) on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026 starting at 9:30 a.m.

  • Course is roughly 3K.
• Strollers and well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. 
• This trot is not timed. 
• Eagle County weather varies in November, so we recommend dressing in layers for this run. Don’t forget to pack a beanie, gloves, and base layers! We recommend any type of running or hiking shoe.

• 8:00 a.m.: Registration Open
• 9:15 - 9:30 a.m.: Stretching 
• 9:30 a.m.: Race Starts

Registration: Registration is $20 per person, and children ages 5 and under participate for free. Race day registration increases by $5, so be sure to sign up early through the Avon Turkey Trot online registration portal.

Packet Pick Up: 

Walkers and Runners may pick up their bib packet starting on Monday, November 16, 2026 at the Avon Recreation Center during standard hours of operation. If you pick up your bib prior to race day, you will be entered to win a raffle prize.

Day of bib packet pick-up will be from 8:00am – 9:14am on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at the Avon Recreation Center.
